Strolling around Arnad

A simple itinerary in stages, allowing you to discover the main places of interest in Arnad. You can start from the Church of San Martino, a small Romanesque work of art featuring a late 15th-century façade and exquisite Late Gothic frescoes.

Château Vallaise

There are three castles dominating the village of Arnad: Casaforte di Ville (Fortified House of Ville), Castello Superiore (Upper Castle) and Château Valleise. A pleasant walk of just over 20 minutes will take you right to the latter.

The ancient 14th-century casaforte, meaning fortified house, was renovated into a noble form in the 17th century, at the behest of Baron Félix-Charles-François.

The simple white façade encloses a series of rooms decorated with a lavish sequence of frescoes. The “Gallery of the Strong Women” is particularly important. Sanctuary of Madonna delle Nevi

Just 3 km from Arnad, surrounded by the leafy chestnut trees of the Machaby valley, don’t miss the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Nevi and its square in which some soapstone statues are on display.

Flavours of Arnad

The village is very famous for its artisan production of Lard d’Arnad P.D.O, cured with salt, spices and mountain aromas.

Every year, at the end of August, the Lardo Festival takes place, during which it is possible to taste the lardo produced by local families, perhaps accompanied by warm buttered chestnuts.

Outdoor activities

With a territory like this, it’s impossible not to feel like doing some outdoor activities! The scenery inspires you to walk along the trails and ancient mule tracks; the fresh air and the cycle paths are an irresistible invitation for cycling tourists; the climbing walls seem to be waiting for athletic types with a spirit of adventure who want to try their hand at climbing.

Cultural activities

Despite being a small region, the Aosta Valley has been defined the “valley of 100 castles”, due to the large concentration of manors, fortified houses and towers throughout the territory, even where you would not expect to find one! …and guess what? Just a few kilometres from the hotel, there are three of the most famous castles and small forts in the Aosta Valley: the Fortress of Bard, the Issogne Castle and the Verrès Castle.
